Genuine licences, registered to you

Product keys are issued through Seagull Scientific and activated in your own company name, on your own account. You own the licence, not us — which means you keep it if you ever stop dealing with us. Ask any reseller whether that is true of what they are selling you; it frequently is not.

The right edition, not the biggest one

Editions are licensed by printer count, and the gap between Professional and Automation is thousands of rupees a printer. Tell us how many printers, whether anything other than a person triggers a print, and whether you need an audit trail — those three answers decide the edition, and often decide it downward.

Most BarTender projects fail at the same point: connecting the label to the data. We build the templates and wire them to your Excel, SQL, ERP or WMS source, so the first thing you do with the software is print a correct label rather than read a manual.

Four editions, and the difference between them is not really features — it is who or what starts the print job, and how many printers are on the end of it. Licensing counts printers, not users, from Professional upward.

BarTender licence price — what it depends on, and how to get yours

There is no single BarTender price, and any site showing you one figure is showing you somebody else's. The licence is priced on four answers. Send us those four and you get a written quote — edition, printer count, licensing model, GST and delivery, all on one page.

Which edition

Starter, Professional, Automation or Enterprise. This is the biggest single lever on the price, and it is the one most often set too high — the gap between Professional and Automation runs into thousands of rupees per printer.

How many printers

From Professional upward, BarTender is licensed by the number of printers it prints to, not by the number of people using it. Count the machines, not the staff. Starter is the exception and covers unlimited printers.

Perpetual or subscription

A perpetual licence is bought once and owned; a subscription is paid yearly and includes upgrades and support for as long as it runs. Both are available in every edition, and which is cheaper depends entirely on how long you intend to keep it.

Maintenance and support

A perpetual licence can carry a maintenance contract for version upgrades and vendor support. Renewed on time it is a modest line; allowed to lapse it costs considerably more to reinstate, which is worth knowing before you let it go.

We support BarTender for the people who buy it from us — installation, activation, template building, database connection, printer setup and the calls afterwards. That support is part of the licence you buy here, and it is reserved for licences bought here. We cannot run a helpdesk for a key somebody else sold, and we would rather say so on the page than after your money has gone.

Which BarTender edition do I need?

Three answers decide it: how many printers, whether anything other than a person triggers a print, and whether you need an audit trail. Starter suits simple labelling and allows unlimited printers. Professional adds database connectivity and is licensed per printer. Automation is the step for printing triggered by an ERP, WMS or line equipment. Enterprise adds centralised printing and administration across sites. We will tell you when the cheaper edition covers you.

Is the licence registered in my company name?

Yes. Product keys are issued through Seagull Scientific and activated in your own company name on your own account, so you keep the licence if you ever stop dealing with us. Not every reseller does this — it is worth asking whoever you buy from.

How much does a BarTender licence cost?

There is no single figure, and any site quoting you one is quoting somebody else's. The price depends on four things: which of the four editions, how many printers it will print to, whether you want a perpetual licence or a subscription, and whether you add maintenance for upgrades and vendor support.
